25 November 2019: This session will be led by Jennifer Devereaux, who will introduce us to the work of Vittorio Gallese. We will read two articles:
- The Introduction, by Hannah Chapelle Wojciehowski and Vittorio Gallese, to Narrative and the Biocultural Turn (no. 5 of the journal Costellazioni, 2008);
- “The Paradigmatic Body – Embodied Simulation, Intersubjectivity, the Bodily Self, and Language”, by Vittorio Gallese and Valentina Cuccio (in Open MIND, edited by T. Metzinger and J. M. Windt, 2015).

9 December 2019: Nancy Easterlin’s A Biocultural Approach to Literary Theory and Interpretation (2012, John Hopkins University Press). We will focus on Chapter 1, “Literature, Science, and Biocultural Interpretation” (pp. 1-38).

4 February 2020: Linguistic Bodies: The Continuity between Life and Language, by Ezequiel Di Paolo, Elena Clare Cuffari, and Hanne De Jaegher, MIT Press (2018). We will focus on the following sections: “Making Introductions”, “Living Bodies” , and “Enacted Bodies”.
